Week 1

BRAINSTORM, MOOD BOARD, CHARACTER DESIGN, NARRATIVE, STOP MOTION RESEARCH

First week back! Trying to solidify my idea. I created a brainstorm of what I want out of my capstone. 

My main thing being MIXED MEDIA. I then made a mood board inspired by the 90’s, surrealism and childhood. 

I used this as inspiration for a little bit of character design, I’ve only just started but I’m quite happy with the vibe that I’m getting so far. Heavily inspired by a stuffed toy that I own. I wanted my character to be a creature but not specifically an animal, a creature you can’t quite tell what it is.

I also wrote down a very base narrative and decided what media’s I want used for which parts of my film. I want it to be a day in the life so I was deciding what parts of the day I wanted to focus on. I was thinking making breakfast, brushing teeth, public transport, supermarket, watching a movie, going to sleep. All of these will be very fantastical and not boring I promise haha

I even did some research into how I want to create my stop motion puppet and found a clay that hardens like rubber called Cosclay. I believe this will be easier than making a mould or using clay (which I’ve used before and it was quite hard to handle for long term animation) so I decided I’ll use that and a wire armature.
